Gloucestershire Economic Growth Capital Investment Pipeline (CIP)

Gloucestershire is ambitious for economic growth. With a residential population of over 600,000 people and a business population of approximately 30,000, the County Council and its partners are working hard to make sure the local infrastructure and wider environment is fit for purpose in supporting the growth agenda, for now and into the future.

Working with our partners across the county to explore, prepare for and deliver new infrastructure and an improved climate for investment, we are focused on a single mission. This mission is to accelerate economic growth by focusing on key drivers of productivity. This strategy is one that is central to our Local Enterprise Partnership GFirst.

The investment required comes in all forms to deliver against a broad range of priorities including:

  • Innovation – to ensure new ideas can be brought forward
  • Skills and employment – delivering inclusive opportunities for our residents and businesses
  • Business environment – to make sure our business community
  • Infrastructure, including energy and digital connectivity – crucial to the future of our business and resident population
  • Housing – across a range of tenures and locations
  • Regeneration and place shaping – to make sure that Gloucestershire is a great place to live, work and visit

The Gloucestershire Economic Growth Capital Investment Pipeline (CIP) has been created to highlight where we are prioritising economic investment. This interactive map sets out Gloucestershire’s current priorities in broad ‘infrastructure’ terms. It allows you to look at the existing and proposed investment in the county and understand the type of projects and investments that are planned/need to be delivered and/or are underway.

It is reviewed, refreshed and updated on a regular basis, to take account of emerging economic investment, strategic infrastructure requirements, resource needs and potential funding opportunities. The CIP is a live map which is actively managed in order to provide the most up to date information on the investment pipeline.

To access the information, you can select the ‘Category/Theme’ as either ‘Seeking Funds’ or ‘Mobilising’ to see a list of the projects within each.  Alternatively, you can hover over one of the map symbols to call up the information.  Additional information can be viewed about each project with the ‘Sub Category’ Layer switched on, which  allows categorisation of the project by sub category (‘Infrastructure’, ‘Place Shaping’, ‘Business Environment’, ‘Housing’ etc) which sets out what and where the infrastructure is planned.  The example we have set out below highlights investment in Cycling Infrastructure.  It provides the Project Name – in this case Cycling Tour of Britain Infrastructure.  It shows that the project is in the ‘Seeking Funds’ category.  The project will provide infrastructure in the Transport sub-category, and Gloucestershire County Council is responsible for it.
